Music Empowerment Mobility Exchange or MEME is a collaborative European project which empowers youth to engage in community building and music making. We want to promote gender equality and combat discrimination through an intersectional approach to empowerment through music and creativity.
For one week we were at FEZ in Berlin with 60 campers and 30 leaders. We had three tracks at the MEME Youth Rock Camp. The largest music track, a media track which was documenting everything and the organising track for young organisers.
All 11 organisations involved in MEME come from the tradition of girls rock camps and MEME welcomes anyone who experiences discrimination on the basis of gender. Everyone who attends here leaves with the rock camp experience but also with a unique understanding of culture as something that is not just a finished product but is something that we can create together. And also an understanding of ways that we can create power through each other.
Music Empowerment Mobility Exchange is supported by the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Union.
